Omnisient, provider of the leading consumer privacy-protecting data collaboration platform in emerging markets, has appointed Tony Houldsworth as Chairman of the Board. Houldsworth’s appointment follows the closing of Omnisient’s expansion round of funding in October led by Buffet investments, KLT and Africa’s largest retailer, The Shoprite Group.

For more than 35 years, Houldsworth has consistently been at the forefront of retail technology as both an entrepreneur and business leader in the UK and Europe. Most recently as former Group CEO and President of Flooid, he led the vision and strategy for one of the world’s most advanced unified commerce platforms.

He has spent over three decades building and running retail technology businesses in the UK, Europe, US and South Africa where he built relationships with some of the world’s largest and most respected retail, leisure, and hospitality brands.

Omnisient enables businesses to comply with global privacy regulations while freeing them up to participate in data-sharing partnerships that improve the customer experience, grow financial inclusion and generate new revenue streams from first party data.

“I’ve had the opportunity to see the positive impact privacy-preserving data collaboration can have on society, such as bringing retailers, telcos and financial services organisations together to grow financial inclusion and open up new revenue streams for them,” says Houldsworth. “I look forward to working with Omnisient’s board to accelerate this by providing guidance on strategy, platform adoption and entry into new markets.”

“Tony joined our Advisory Board in March, and it quickly became evident that his knowledge and experience in the technology and retail sectors are invaluable in helping us achieve our international expansion objectives,” says Jon Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Omnisient.
